How AttendWise works
AttendWise is a set of calculators that work from the numbers you enter. Everything runs in your browser. Use the links below to jump to each tool.
The attendance formula
Effective absences = Total Absent + OAA minus O.A. Attendance. Attendance % = 100 minus ((effective absences divided by total lectures) times 100). Enter these on the Calculator.
Future projections
The Future Predictor adds future lectures to your total. Every future lecture is either attended (total goes up, absences stay the same) or missed (total and absences both go up). Mixed scenarios combine full attended days, full missed days, and partial days.
Target planning
The Target Planner shows how many lectures you need to reach a target percentage, assuming your absences stay the same and every new lecture is attended. College days needed is that lecture count divided by lectures per college day, rounded up.
Medical adjustment
On the Medical page, each approved medical day counts as your lectures per college day. That many lectures are subtracted from total absences, never going below 0. Total lectures do not change. Only count officially approved leave.
SAR adjustment
The SAR box under the Calculator result subtracts approved SAR lectures from absences and shows an after-SAR percentage. Total lectures do not change. It is a simulation only and does not change your main result.
Limitations
AttendWise gives estimates from the formulas above. It does not know your college's official attendance rules, and it is not an official PSIT tool. It has no institutional affiliation. Always confirm your attendance with your institution.
Frequently asked questions
How is my attendance calculated?
AttendWise first works out effective absences: Total Absent + OAA minus O.A. Attendance. Your attendance percentage is then 100 minus (effective absences divided by total lectures, times 100). Values are rounded to 2 decimals for display only.
What happens to my attendance if I miss one day?
Missing a day adds your lectures per college day (8 by default, changeable in Settings) to both total lectures and absences, then recalculates the percentage, so it goes down. Use the "Miss X days" option on the Future Predictor page to see the exact effect.
How many lectures do I need to reach 75%?
The Target Planner uses: lectures needed = ceil(absent / (1 - target) - total), assuming your absences stay the same and every new lecture is attended. College days needed is that lecture count divided by lectures per college day, rounded up.
Does approved medical leave remove absences?
Only in the Medical view, as a simulation. Each approved medical day counts as your lectures per college day, and that many lectures are subtracted from total absences (never below 0). Total lectures stay the same, and your main calculator result does not change. The run is added to your history log. Only count officially approved leave.
Is SAR applied automatically?
No. The SAR box under the calculator result is a manual simulation. Enter the approved SAR lectures and it subtracts them from absences to show an after-SAR percentage. Total lectures stay the same, and nothing is applied to your main result.
Is my data saved anywhere?
Not on a server. AttendWise has no backend and no accounts. Settings and calculation history are saved in your browser's localStorage on that device only, so another browser or cleared site data will not have them.
Is AttendWise an official PSIT website?
No. AttendWise is an independent student project for PSIT Kanpur students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by PSIT or any college authority. Confirm your official attendance with your institution.
Does AttendWise know PSIT's official attendance rules?
No. The calculations are general attendance math. AttendWise does not know your college's rules on shortage, condonation, or how medical and SAR leave is approved, so treat every result as an estimate.
Attendance Calculator
Future Predictor
Calculate your attendance on the Calculator page first. The predictor uses the last calculated result.
Baseline
Total lectures (T): - · Effective absences (A): - · Current: -
Must be at most partial days × lectures per day.
Attendance Impact Calculator
Target Planner
Lectures needed to reach a target, assuming the absences stay the same and every new lecture is attended.
Greater than 0 and less than 100.
Medical Attendance
Simulate how approved medical leave changes your absence count. Medical lectures are removed from total absences; total lectures stay the same.
Only officially approved medical leave should be counted.
How approved medical leave works
Each approved medical day is worth your lectures per college day. For example, 2 approved medical days at 8 lectures per day remove 16 lectures from your total absences. Total lectures are not changed, so attendance is recalculated only from the reduced absence count. This is a simulation and does not change your saved calculator results.
